Service Advisor Aug 15, 2010 Issue
  • Improve CSI by improving your listening skills
Someone once said that, "A diplomat is a fellow that lets you do all of the talking while he gets what he wants." Those comments are just as relevant to the professional service advisor as they are to the diplomat.
  • Tips for selling more maintenance services
True story. Earlier this month, a customer took his car into a dealership for some dealer-only type service. It happened to be an import store, but that point isn't critical to the story. This customer knows how things work so he made an appointment and showed up on time. He asked the service advisor to look at three things:
    • Convertible top malfunction
    • Oil leak from around the head cover
    • Input the security code for the radio
The independent shops would not touch these jobs.
