Death tax deadline. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) has indicated that he will bring the issue of permanent repeal of the estate tax for a vote before Memorial Day, reported NADA Newswire.
Write-off cap may rise. Small businesses may be able to write off up to $200,000 a year - double the current amount - on spending for computers, machinery and other big-ticket items under President Bush's 2007 budget proposal, reported USA TODAY.
EEOC lawsuits decline. Discrimination charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) against private sector employers fell 5% last year, announced the agency. Auto insurance update. Insurance.com, the nation's largest online auto insurance agency, says consumer car insurance quote requests on its website increased by more than 20% in 2005, the fourth straight year of growth. This reflects consumers' growing comfort with using the Internet for researching and buying car insurance policies, the company says.
