Wipers - warranty or not

Are wiper blades covered under warranty? The answer is sometimes. Wiper blade replacements are considered normal maintenance; however, Ford will cover them for defects in material or workmanship for the first 12 months with no limit on the miles.

The only exceptions are those vehicles with maintenance contracts and 2001-2003 Lincoln vehicles still under the old Lincoln Commitment paid maintenance program.

The larger issue for any item that Ford considers a maintenance item is making the decision between a factory defect and normal wear and tear. Whenever you want to submit a claim on a maintenance item, even in the allowed timeframe, you should be careful that the claim wording or cause of failure still reflects back to a factory defect instead of just normal wear.
