What should we examine when service appointment availability slips? Which numbers matter when used inventory ages and gross profit declines? How do we turn a recurring problem into a plan the team can actually use?
That is why we created EDGE, the DealersEdge management research assistant. In the video above, you’ll see how EDGE helps you search, analyze, connect, and simplify information from the DealersEdge Management Information Library.
Start with the real business problem
A broad question such as “How do I improve service?” leaves out the details that determine what to do next. Tell EDGE what’s happening in your store and what you want to accomplish. For example:
Our service department has longer appointment lead times and lower customer-pay labor. What should I examine first, and what actions could improve performance?
Now EDGE has a department, a current condition, and a goal. That context gives it a clearer target for relevant guidance. The video offers a useful four-part formula for stronger questions: department or process, current condition, desired result, and the form of help you need.
That last part matters. You can ask for an action plan, a checklist, a meeting agenda, coaching questions, or a schedule for the next steps. Instead of stopping at general advice, you can request a format that fits the work you need to do.
Put DealersEdge knowledge to work
EDGE draws on the DealersEdge library, including guidebooks, online learning events, executive summary reports, and tools. It can organize relevant information around your question and suggest areas to investigate or actions to consider.
Your dealership supplies the other half of the picture: its actual data, local operating conditions, policies, and franchise requirements. Use EDGE to sharpen the research and structure the discussion, then apply your own judgment to decide what fits your store.
The video also shows an important boundary. If EDGE does not have enough support for an answer, it can say “I don’t know” rather than make an unsupported guess. You can then narrow the question, rephrase it, or flag a gap in the library.
Make it a management habit
EDGE works best when you bring it the questions already on your desk. Explain the situation. Ask for a useful answer format. Add the relevant context again with each new query, since EDGE does not remember previous questions or answers. Then compare its guidance with your dealership’s numbers and put the most promising steps into action.
Watch the video above to see EDGE in action and learn how to ask questions that lead to more useful answers.
